Kikkan Randall
Life is like a ski course: with challenging uphills, exhilarating downhills and plenty of plateaus. I believe the attitude you choose to meet these challenges with determines whether you “dive” or “thrive”. Through a journey of five Olympics I learned valuable skills that have helped me become an Olympic Champion, return to elite competition after the birth of my son and now battle cancer. I share the story of my 20-year journey to win America’s first ever Olympic gold medal in cross country skiing and how lessons I learned along the way can inspire you to overcome any challenge and find the pure joy in life.
As a lifelong Alaskan, Kikkan has always been an athlete at heart, aspiring to the Olympics and beyond. She was a trail blazer for the US Cross Country Ski Team, being the first American woman to win a World Cup and medals at the Olympics and World Championships. She is a 3time Overall World Cup Sprint Champion and an Olympic gold medalist. In addition to her athletic pursuits, she is passionately involved with Healthy Futures and Fast and Female, organizations that promote the benefits of healthy active lifestyles to youth. She represents the voices of athletes as a member of the International Olympic Committee. In June 2018, just three months after winning Olympic Gold, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and has been bringing her determination and positive attitude towards her cancer battle, hoping to inspire others along the way to stay active and persevere through any challenge!
Kikkan is married to Canadian athlete Jeff Ellis and is an active Mom to son Breck.
